Child Welfare Officer
Janine Bevan is a member of the Executive Committee of Father Mathews Basketball Club, in her position as Child Welfare Officer.
The Child Welfare Office acts as the designated liaison person for the club on any child protection issues that may arise and oversees child welfare issues generally within the club. For example, Father Mathew’s is ensuring that all coaches, assistant coaches, volunteers and officials within the Club have been Garda Vetted and is working towards ensuring all relevant club representatives have Safeguarding Awareness training. Janine works with coaches, parents and the Committee to ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are in place and to help resolve any problems.
Janine is experienced in many mental health settings both here and in the UK, including youth support services, suicide support services and student counselling services. She now works as a counsellor with adults and adolescents, and has been a Scout leader for nearly 10 years.
