U18A Boys League:
Mathews 69 – 65 Ballincollig

Mathews Arena played host to a very entertaining U18 game this afternoon. In what could be deemed the sporting equivalent of the famous western "Shootout at the OK Corral" both sides shot the ball extremely well. In fact twenty four "3's" were drained down in total over the course of the game (13 for Mathews and 11 for Ballincollig) and that was with both sides playing tough defence.

The 3 point shot has become such a huge part of the modern game (thanks to today's icons of Curry, Harden, Thompson etc) it's easy to see why young players these days have made it a fundamental part of their game.

With respect to the game, Mathews started well and led at the end of the first two quarters but Ballincollig made a really strong run in the third quarter and took the lead midway through the fourth. After this both sides traded baskets right to the finish.

Mathews closed the game out in the last minute with a "2" and one last "3" to win by four in a highly entertaining game.
